About EcoAtivo
EcoAtivo is an ecosystem restoration community in central Portugal’s Serra da Estrela foothills. Founded in 2020, it regenerates fire-degraded land through soil and water restoration, agroforestry, native species recovery, and community stewardship.
What the position entails
EcoAtivo is looking for volunteers THIS AUGUST for an intensive month (minimum 2 weeks) of water cycle regeneration and agroforestry system maintenance, a mini-internship in ecological restoration! Places are limited.
What skills do I need?
We’re looking for people with:
- Experience in fieldwork
- Good physical fitness for fieldwork
- Willingness to learn and take action for the environment
What will I be doing?
- Building river dams
- Cutting and organising biomass along contour lines
- Helping create a regeneration plan
The schedule will be designed around the heat: early morning (from 6:30am) and late afternoon (from 6:30pm), with a total of five working ours per day, and never during the hottest hours.
Where will I stay?
You will be accommodate at the Ananda Kalyani community, near Serra da Estrela, with vegan sattvic meals included. You’ll have an opportunity to learn yoga and meditation during your stay.
